Just ONE WEEK left for Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten!
over 8 years ago – Tue, Oct 24, 2017 at 09:37:06 PM

Greetings, faithful followers! Many of you have already joined us on our latest horrifying adventure - Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten! Your devotion is much appreciated - and if you've yet to take the plunge, our latest Kickstarter project has just ONE WEEK LEFT to run!

Not sure what we're babbling on about with this unpronounceable new project? Well, Kulten is a pet project of Uncle Mike's that has been previously available to our illustrious fanclub, the Cult of the Black Goat. While it shares many of the same core rules concepts as your beloved Strange Aeons, it's all bad guys, all the time! Lead your very own cult to glory and infamy, and fight it out with other cults to prove your own dark god as the greatest of the Old Ones! This Kickstarter will unleash a fully-updated rulebook (available in physical print for the first time!) as well as plenty of morbid new miniatures to join your collection of eldritch horrors.

We hope you'll take a peek, and consider joining our little crusade of monstrosities once more. You can find the campaign right here.

Ia! Ia! The stars come right once again!

over 8 years ago – Mon, Oct 02, 2017 at 12:14:52 AM

Looking for meaning in your life?

A place where you can belong?

Not bothered by the sight of blood?

So many questions. Many with difficult answers. What if I told you about a place with only easy answers? Wouldn’t that be calming?

I know what you are thinking but I assure you, we aren’t trying to exploit or imprison you…Uncle Mike had so much fun with the last Kickstarter, he's launching another one! And he's hoping you'll all come join him and have some chaotic cultist fun. The madness begins October 10th at 10AM MDT!

If you like cults…

The Stars are Right!

Packages are now shipping out to all backers!  If you're outside of Canada, you can expect to receive a notice from Ship Naked very soon if you haven't seen one already.  Note that not all orders will have tracking information - this is dependent on the size of the package and the carrier used - but we can give you a rough idea of when you can expect your parcel to arrive:

  • USA - 1-2 weeks
  • Europe - 3 weeks
  • Rest of World - 4-6 weeks

If your package doesn't arrive within those windows, or you don't receive a shipping notice within the next week, you can contact Ship Naked at [email protected] or by phone at +01 603-401-9386 (M-F 12:30 - 21:00 UTC).

All backers in Canada should now have received their parcels.  I've just checked tracking, and all shipments report as delivered.  If you didn't get yours, contact us at [email protected] and we'll make inquiries with Canada Post.

Damaged or Incorrect Shipments

In the unfortunate event that there's something wrong with your order - whether a broken model, missing part, or we've sent you a Crypt of Cthulhu instead of a Graveyard Box - most inquiries should be directed to us at [email protected], as we'll be handling all replacements directly.  In the unlikely event you've received completely the wrong package, or the box has sustained substantial damage during transit, you can either contact Ship Naked or alert us and we'll pass the details along as required.

Working with Resin

There's a good chance many of you have never encountered a resin model before, and may be at a bit of a loss as to how to proceed with preparing them for assembly and painting.  For the most part, resin behaves very much like most hard plastics, and can be trimmed, filed or sanded in the same manner you would a hard plastic or metal model (do use a lighter touch than you would with metal though!).  We recommend you do this in a well-ventilated area, as you should with any activity that generates airborne particulates.  Masks really aren't necessary though, unless you're especially concerned or have existing respiratory issues.

Most models will retain a residue of mold release spray on the surface, and should be washed in warm water and dish soap and allowed to dry fully before assembling or painting.  Any form of 'superglue' is the best choice for assembly, and you may want to rough up the surfaces a bit with a file before gluing to improve adherence.  Only the monstrous Godling requires the use of a pin vise for assembly, thanks to the comparatively low weight of the material relative to metal.

Resin accepts the same types of paint you'd use with any other miniature, and applying a primer coat is strongly recommended (if in doubt about sprays, choose one that adheres to plastic).  If you haven't done much painting before, we recommend acrylic model paints such as those produced by Games Workshop, Vallejo, and many other fine companies.

If you have any questions, are looking for pointers, or want to show off your finished models, you can always join the Strange Aeons online community at Lead Adventure Forum!

My friends are (rightly) jealous of my glorious collection of eldritch awesomeness! Where can they go to get their own stuff?

An excellent question!  We've moved sales back to the UMW Online Shop, where you can now order the initial wave of retail products: 2nd Edition Rulebook, Template Set, Solo Play Deck, Twisted Fate Deck, and Starter Box, along with Black Goat memberships and PDF editions of Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten.  Shipping will begin in early October.

Wow, and with that, the Strange Aeons 2nd Edition Kickstarter officially draws to a close.  What a ride it's been!  We look forward to hearing (and seeing) all about the adventures of your heroic Threshold operatives as they venture forth in the endless fight against unspeakable cosmic evil.  Have fun!  Personally, I'm going to finally cave in to the result of the Insanity test I failed a few months back and go Face Down for a while.  Please keep the Fishmen off me until I recover.

We're all Packed!
over 10 years ago – Sun, Aug 23, 2015 at 12:00:49 AM

Last Friday, we packed up our first order (congratulations to long-time fan and rules contributor Rudi Nielsen, who by complete chance was the first completed order), and today, we put the final piece of tape on the last box (the order ID number on that one ended in 666 - we're unsure if that was auspicious or not...).  Yes, save for those that will be picked up locally, every last box is packed, sealed and ready to roll!  We allotted two weeks for this process, so finishing in a mere eight days is great news indeed.  We had a crack team working though a well-organized assembly line, and all went incredibly smoothly.  Just look at this t-shirt packing station!  Extra-special thanks to Mrs. Cult Librarian for doing all the folding.

Boxes, boxes, boxes (and over half a kilometer of tape).  This set of stacks is just our Europe-bound orders.  There's another equally large pile destined for the USA, and smaller stacks for those in Canada, Australia and elsewhere.

The next step is to get all these parcels out the door and into the hands of our freight forwarder, who will in turn transfer them to our shipping partners around the world, who will then post the boxes along to you, our backers.  We'd like to complete this step by the end of next week, but it may take a little longer depending on scheduling with the freight forwarder.  We'll update you when it's all on its way.

On to a little bit of housekeeping.  I was reminded after the last update that we still haven't shared images of a few of our models.  You have my apologies for this (it's been a hectic last few months!), and I'll get that matter rectified.  Posthaste!  Right now in fact.  First up, a test cast of the Exorcist, which will be included in all Kickstarter pledges at the Agent level and up.

Your Exorcists will be in Threshold blue resin - this green Exorcist (apparently a Lurker turncoat!) was a sample cast up with some spare resin.  Green seems to photograph better than blue though, so you'll get a better sense of the model from this version.

Next, a production cast of the Daemonic Hound, included in (fittingly) the Daemon Box.  The base is sized the same as the Exorcist above, so the Hound stands roughly eye-to-eye with a human.

Finally, another Daemon Box resident, the Wendigo.  This is three-part model, and does require a separate base (not included) to stand properly.  He's also roughly human-height, but quite bulky in his crouched pose.

I believe that does it for 'unseen' figures, but do remind me if there's anything else I've failed to share!

Whew, that was quite the week.  We'll all be taking a day off tomorrow to recover, and then back to it first thing Monday to make sure all is in order for the final phase of the project - delivery!
